[sigh]
It was a blast. My first time wine tasting. And my first bachelorette party. So obviously memorable.
Which is a good thing because after I got home and downloaded all the photos taken onto the computer I noticed they each had a very common blur.
So I look at the camera and OF COURSE THERE'S SCRATCHES ON THE LENSE!!!
I am so stinking sad about it. I was borrowing my mom's camera so I could get used to taking photos before my trip to Spain and now I'm just a tad bit disheartened.
So this morning I invested in a new camera! I'll gush about it next week when it arrives.
Now, here's what I did get for the weekend:
I was trying not to share faces but here you can see:
Loki, Snow White, Elsa, Leia, Merida, Ariel behind Mary Poppins,
Russell, Mickey Mouse, and Belle
We had actually gone to four different wineries. While they were all beautiful and obviously they had exquisite wine, our number one vote had to go to:
DERBY WINE ESTATES
Found in Paso Robles, don't let this place fool you. It's found off the road nestled next to some train tracks. But consider its history and the incredibly knowledgeable and inviting staff, this place is worth the visit.
After a long day of wine tasting and wandering, our group was exhausted and I wasn't the only one considering passing on tasting at this our last stop. I almost just stayed on the bus. But, I was dragged along to view the back room where our tour guide explained to us a myriad of wine trivia. Like, how some wineries outsmarted prohibition by burying their wine or watering it down for religious purposes. Or how roses are usually seen at the end of the rows of grapes at vineyards because the pests that are most dangerous to the crops can be found on rose petals before they infest the fields. He also got into the fact that there is legit a hawk guy that will come to the fields to set his bird on any prey that may be wrecking havoc on the crops. Just, super informative.
And super beautiful.

Oh yeah, and their building used to be owned by the Blue Diamond Almonds. So they've got this sign and a ton of BW photos of the building's construction along the wall of their tasting room.
It was a real treat.
A+
Would recommend.
...man I can't wait for that new camera... then I gotta learn how to edit...
